Solid Wood Writing Desks

Explore handcrafted solid wood writing desks for home offices, studies and creative spaces. Choose from compact, corner, drawer and open-shelf designs with durable natural finishes and characterful detailing.

Sizes run from a 60 cm wide mini desk for a bedroom alcove to 136 cm for a full home-office desk, with most tops 80 to 90 cm wide and 35 to 45 cm deep: enough for a laptop, a notebook and a lamp rather than two monitors. Desk height is a standard 77 to 80 cm. Turned-leg and spindle designs keep the underside open for a chair; one- and two-drawer desks add storage, and gallery-back and shelf designs give a raised edge for books.

Each desk is made in India from mango wood, most listed by the maker as solid mango wood, and hand finished in oak-ish, chestnut or walnut tones, with a hand-painted option. Choosing a writing desk

Measure the wall space and allow room to pull a chair out. Most desks here are 80 to 90 cm wide and 35 to 45 cm deep, which suits a laptop, a notebook and a lamp; choose a 110 cm or wider desk if you work with a monitor. Standard desk height is 77 to 80 cm.
