Product details

Soft teddy fabric in a calm olive green, a gentle glide and room to lean back. The Madison brings a little colour and a lot of comfort to night feeds, slow cuddles and long bedtime stories.

It glides on metal ball bearings, turns all the way round on its base and reclines with a manual Leggett & Platt mechanism, so you can settle in, reach what you need and rest without getting up.

How it moves

Glide: A smooth back-and-forth glide on metal ball bearings, which Obaby describes as almost silent.
Swivel: Turns a full 360° on its base.
Recline: Pull the catch on the side to lean back and raise the footrest; push the footrest down to sit up again.

Fully reclined: 160 cm from headrest to footrest
Seat: 50 cm high, 53 cm wide between the arms, 51 cm deep

Fabric, frame and care

Fabric: Soft teddy fabric in Olive.
Comfort: A plush seat with supportive foam cushions and padded arms.
Frame: Hardwood and composite construction.

Assembly and safety

Assembly comes in two stages and should be done by an adult. Obaby's safety notes ask you not to sit on the arms or the edge of the seat, to take care with the mechanism underneath while the chair moves, and never to leave a child on or beside the chair alone.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a nursery chair or glider?

A nursery chair (often a glider or nursing chair) is seating designed for feeding and settling a baby — stable base, supportive back, and a motion that is calmer than a loose lounge chair.

Which nursery chair type should I choose?

Swivel glider recliners turn on their base, glide and lean back; electric recliners recline at the press of a button; glider and footstool sets come with a matching stool; rockers give a classic rock. Choose the motion you want, then check the upright size and reclined length against your room.

Is a glider better than a nursing chair rocker?

A glider moves back and forth on its base, so the chair itself stays in place; a rocker tips on curved runners or a rocking base. Neither suits everyone: compare the motion and the size in Will it fit? on this page.

Which colours does this chair come in?

This chair comes in Bouclé, Oatmeal, Pebble, Teddy Truffle and Teddy Olive. Choose a colour just above Add to basket.

Is delivery included?

Nursery chairs in this range include free delivery to the United Kingdom as stated at checkout.

Can I use a pregnancy pillow with a nursery chair?

Yes — a pregnancy or feeding pillow on your lap pairs well with a glider for night feeds; many parents keep a U-shaped pillow after birth for that reason.

How much room does the Madison need?

Upright, it measures W 74 × D 97 × H 99 cm. Fully reclined, it is 160 cm from headrest to footrest, so measure the floor in front of where it will sit. The seat is 50 cm high and 53 cm wide between the arms.

How does the recline work?

It is a manual Leggett & Platt mechanism. Pull the catch on the side to lean back and raise the footrest, then push the footrest down to sit up again.

Does it swivel and glide?

Yes. It turns a full 360° on its base and glides on metal ball bearings, which Obaby describes as almost silent.

How do I clean it?

Wipe spills straight away, then clean with a cloth dampened with water or mild soap. Let the fabric dry and brush it lightly. Don't use bleach or abrasive cleaners.
