Description

A foam bed wedge for a gradual raised resting position on top of the mattress. Choose from two widths and three surface materials, with a removable polycotton cover included.

Choose the width

24 inch / 61 cm: a narrower support area; measure the part of the mattress you want to use.
36 inch / 91.5 cm — UK Single: a wider surface, approximately the width of a single mattress.

Both widths are listed as 76 cm long and 15.2 cm high. Neither option is a full double-bed width. Check your actual mattress and the space needed by anyone sharing the bed.

Choose the surface material

Standard foam: the original supportive foam construction.
Memory foam: the top 1 inch uses memory foam for a gradually contouring surface feel.
Graphite latex: the top 1 inch uses graphite latex for a resilient surface. This option contains latex.

Use this wedge on top of the mattress, following the supplied instructions and product images. It can support upper-body resting or be repositioned beneath the legs. It is not an under-mattress bed raiser or a chair sitting wedge.

The removable polycotton cover is washable according to its sewn-in label. Remove it before washing and let it dry fully before refitting; do not assume the foam core is machine washable.

Using a bed wedge for acid reflux

NHS advice on heartburn and acid reflux includes raising the head end of your bed by 10 to 20 cm, so your chest and head are above the level of your waist. This wedge is about 15.2 cm high at its tallest end, which is within that range when it sits under your head and shoulders on top of the mattress. It is a positioning aid, not a treatment: speak to your GP or pharmacist if symptoms continue.

Bed wedge or bed-raising blocks?

Bed-raising blocks lift the legs at the head end of the whole bed, so the mattress slopes for everyone in it and the frame must suit them. A foam wedge sits on your side of the mattress, needs no tools and can be moved or stored when you do not need it. If you share a bed or want to try elevated sleeping first, a wedge is usually the simpler option.

Yes. Bed wedge, wedge pillow, reflux pillow and triangle pillow are names for the same thing: a sloped foam support that raises your upper body in bed. Our wedge pillows range has other shapes too.

Which widths can I order?

Which material should I choose?

Can a bed wedge help with snoring?

Some people find sleeping with their head and chest raised more comfortable if they snore or feel blocked up at night. A wedge cannot promise to stop snoring. If you snore loudly and also gasp or stop breathing in your sleep, or feel very tired during the day, speak to your GP.

Can I sleep on my side on it?

Yes. Putnams describe the wedge as suitable for back and side sleepers. Choose the 91.5 cm width if you want more room to turn over.

Can I use it to read or watch TV in bed?

Yes, for resting propped up at a gentle angle. It is not an upright backrest, so it will not hold you sitting straight up.
